Steve Cram reckons only two GB athletes have genuine medal hopes at the World Championships - Kelly Sotherton and Jessica Ennis.

Both are heptathlon rivals, both seem to be heading in different directions. Ennis has, in every sense of the word, been flying.

A Commonwealth Games bronze in her first major championships last year was not a bad career opener, and having already qualified for Beijing, she is now smashing personal bests for fun.

The psychology graduate may have trouble pushing her soon-to-retire heroine Carolina Kluft off top spot next year, but Ennis has a few Olympics left in her yet.
