Sprott retained his European Union title after beating Audley Harrison |
Michael Sprott's reward for his knockout of Audley Harrison is a chance for revenge against Commonwealth king Matt Skelton in London on 26 May. Promoter Frank Warren hopes to hand the winner of the heavyweight fight at Docklands Arena a world title shot.
Sprott, 32, was floored by Skelton when defending the British and Commonwealth championships in Reading in April 2004.
But after shocking Harrison at Wembley, Sprott has earned the right for another crack at the 40-year-old Skelton.
Sprott, who holds the English and fringe European Union belt, said: "I'm still walking around with my head in the clouds, but I know I'll have to take Skelton seriously and I'm already focusing on that fight.
"I tend to do better in rematches, so I'm confident that I can carry my good form into the Skelton fight.

"Matt's a great fighter and he deserved to win our first meeting, but now I've got a chance to turn things around."
Sprott's haymaker to sink former Olympic champion Harrison improved his record to 30 wins and 10 losses.
Former kick-boxer Skelton, 40, has been beaten only once in 21 fights since switching sports five years ago.
The Commonwealth champion said: "I thought Michael's performance against Audley was very impressive. Not many people thought he could win, but he stuck to it.
"Obviously I'm disappointed because I was supposed to fight Harrison, but maybe it's not to be.
"It was frustrating missing out in December because of my hand injury, and frustrating to see him get beaten by Michael.
"But fair play to Michael because he has earned his chance. Now I'm raring to go and the time off won't have affected me."
