Douglas has had an injury hampered season |
Oxford-born athlete Nathan Douglas finished outside the medal positions at the European Championships after the triple jump final in Barcelona. Douglas - who had been suffering with a hamstring problem in the build-up to the event - finished a disappointing 10th with a best of 16.48m. Fellow Briton Philips Idowu took the gold medal in a new personal best with his fourth attempt of 17.81m. Romania's Marian Oprea won silver ahead of Frenchman Teddy Tamgho in third.
