Frenzied final lap sees Hannah England triumph

Oxford City athlete Hannah England took victory at the UK Championships in the 1500m on Sunday.

In frantic final lap in Birmingham she finished first ahead of a quality women's field including Steph Twell and Lisa Dobriskey.

"I didn't know I was that far ahead, I was really scared and didn't want to look at the board," the 23-year-old told the BBC.

"I know I have a strong finish so that kind of race plays into my hands."

The result confirm's England's qualification for the UK team for the European Championships held in Barcelona later this year.

"I know I can get more some training under my belt and I have some aspects to work on, so hopefully I can put that together and do really well there," said England.
