Derham hopes to improve her best of 68.63m in Berlin
Hammer thrower Zoe Derham believes her coach's words of wisdom will still stay with her, despite Lorraine Shaw not being at the World Championships.
Gloucester-based Derham, 28, hopes to beat her mentor's UK record in Berlin by imagining Shaw's tips as she throws.
"I'll need to concentrate on what she'd be telling me and then hopefully I'll be able to improve that bit extra," she told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
"I'll take a little Lorraine with me, pack her in my head and off I go."
Shaw, the 2002 Commonwealth champion, is still the British record holder at 68.93m, 30cm ahead of Derham's best.
Automatic qualification for the final is set at 72m, so Bristol-born Derham knows she has got to produce something special.
"Getting in to the final would be an ideal aim, but the main aim really is to go out there and throw well and hopefully - with that distance - to get into the final," she said.
"There's still more to come, I don't think I've hit my peak by any means, we are looking for the 70m mark and then once you get over that mark you become a lot more competitive."
