Cheltenham's Julian Alsop scored in the last minute to clinch all three points against Rochdale in a tight encounter.
In the first half, Rochdale's Craig Dawson had a goal ruled out for offside and Chris Dagnall blazed over with the home side's best chance of the game.
Rochdale had the better of the second half but were unable to find the mark against a resolute Robins defence.
They paid the price in the last minute when Barry Hayles' pass found Alsop and he fired past goalkeeper Kenny Arthur.
Cheltenham manager Martin Allen told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:
"We put Julian Alsop on but he obviously wasn't going to get in behind them because he's so slow.
"Then, when Barry Hayles rolled that ball across the 18 yard box for him, he showed a tremendous change of speed where he actually got slower I thought, before he toed it in the bottom corner.
"It was great to see him get that goal and great for our supporters who made the journey - I was chuffed to bits with how many there were."
