 Christine McMahon broke the 60 seconds barrier twice in Finland |
Christine McMahon earned her second medal at the European Youth Olympics in Finland when she won a 4x100 metres relay bronze on Friday. A day after her 400m hurdles silver, McMahon and her Ballymena & Antrim club-mate Joanna Mills were part of Ireland's relay bronze medal success. Joan Healy and Caoimhe King were the other members of the quartet (45.56). Portaferry girl Ciara Mageen clinched 1500m gold in a championship record time on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, McMahon took second in the hurdles behind Vera Rudakova of Russia, who set a new championship record of 58.01 seconds. McMahon finished in 59.55 to set a new personal best and Northern Ireland Junior record.
