The president of the Guernsey Athletics Club, Rob Batiste, has criticised the lack of support his sport receives. Sunday's Blue Islands Challenge Cup saw local Olympian Dale Garland race and a host of local and UK athletes compete, but attendances were poor. "It cost us close to 30,000 to stage this," Baptiste told BBC Guernsey. "You would like to think the Guernsey people would come out and support it and make it more worthwhile but they have not." Eight all-comers records were broken on Sunday, with Jessica Sparke of Woodford Green and Essex Ladies posting the fastest time in the country this year for the women's mile, in 4:43.52s
