CI Men have been relegated from national league division three

The Channel Islands men's athletics team were relegated from division three of the British League on Saturday.

At the final meet of the season in Ashford, Kent, the CI team needed to win to stave off relegation.

"The team gave the performance of the season but the miracles didn't happen," coach Andrew Winnie told the BBC.

"Overall it's been a fantastic season and we look forward to being competitive next year in division four," he added.

Guernsey's Lee Merrien was the pick of the Channel Island athletes, winning both the 1500m and the 5000m.
