 | Campbell will compete in three events in Paris |
Darren Campbell insists he deserves the third 200m spot in the British team for the World Championships, after edging Marlon Devonish for the place. Campbell finished behind Julian Golding and Christian Malcolm at the trials in Birmingham on Wednesday, but beat Devonish by one hundredth of a second.
And the British selectors decided that was enough to give Campbell the third place, despite Devonish having been the country's best 200m runner last year.
"I can appreciate how difficult it must have been for the selectors," Campbell told BBC Radio Five Live.
"But I honestly think that we had all the best sprinters in the competition on the day, so I really believe it would have been unfair not to have picked the first three in those events. "Although the decision seemed difficult I think everyone knew going into the trials that there was a high chance the first three would go.

"I'm just thankful in the 200m that I came third. Obviously if I'd come fourth and they'd picked somebody else, I would have to accept that. "But everyone was on the line, on the day, and gave the best performance that they could."
Campbell will compete in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in Paris next month.
And the Olympic 200m silver medallist admitted that he finds it easier to perform in championship races, as opposed to one-off meetings.
"I really do find it difficult to go out on the circuit and perform in those one-off races," he said.
"But give me rounds and that high level of competition and my brain just switches into gear and I tend to deliver more."
