Varndell will have attracted the attention of the England selectors with an explosive hat-trick as Leicester thrashed Harlequins.

The 22-year-old wing won three England caps under Andy Robinson but suffered a slump in form last year and was even sent out on loan to Bedford.

But he has scored 10 tries in 15 games this season, including a stunning solo effort from 70m out against Quins, and he also showed his value to the team with some impressive work off the ball.
