McLaughlin continued his good form in the saddle |
Guernsey cyclist James McLaughlin came second in the junior section of the Avessac Grand Prix. McLaughlin, who won the Channel Island time trial and road race in June, was 23rd overall in his first French event. The Sarnian joined a break-away group over the first few laps and later led the chasing group when a new lead peloton was established. On the last lap, he tried to rein in three break-away riders but his efforts left him vulnerable in the last sprint. McLaughlin's time for the race was 2 hours and 37 minutes.
