Sailing events will take place at the Olympic Sailing Centre in the coastal city of Qingdao, some 516 miles from the Chinese capital.
The venue, built on a former shipping yard, held its first test event in 2006.
In August 2007, the Qingdao International Regatta was judged a big success for the British team, who won five of the 11 gold medals.
Qingdao is one of China's fastest growing cities, with a population of 7.3 million. The city is also home to the Tsingtao Brewery, makers of the country's leading beer.
