Emms acts as a mentor for the Leeds duo of Jenny Wallwork, 22, and Gabby White, 18, and was particularly impressed by their showing in defeat at the national championships this year. "They could have bottled it but they really fought, they showed attitude and personality," says Emms. "It's a question of making sure it all comes together and that they mature, both as people and on court. "Sometimes they play like juniors - they get carried away and don't think clearly.
