Nathan Robertson and Anthony Clark are national champions in men's doubles, which Emms puts down to their experience. "They're a couple of 31-year-old daddies who shouldn't be beating young Asian pairings but they're relaxed and under no pressure," she says. "They're not a pairing who will go on to the 2012 Olympics but they're doing it for fun." Perhaps the best bet for 2012 is the pairing of Robert Blair, the 27-year-old who has been competing for England since 2001, and Chris Adcock, who only turns 20 in April. "Asian players tend to peak at around 18, while European players sometimes don't peak as last as 24 or so.
