Robertson (left) and Clark will boost their world ranking |
Nathan Robertson and Anthony Clark ended English interest in the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open as they bowed out of the men's doubles semi-finals. The national champions were defeated 21-19 21-17 by Korean third seeds Lee Yongdae and Jung Jaesung. Yongdae also defeated Robertson in the Olympic mixed doubles quarter-final in what was to be his last match with Gail Emms, who retired after the Games. Despite the Hong Kong loss, Clark and Robertson's world ranking will improve. It was the best performance by the former European silver medallists, who are ranked 103 in the world, since they teamed up again after the Olympics. The England pair had to qualify for the main draw and were just one match short of reaching their first Super Series final.
