Wallwork and Robertson got off to a victorious start in Denmark |
Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork's first tournament together ended with a second-round defeat by fellow Britons Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier. Blair and Bankier came through to win 21-15 21-12 and reach the Denmark Open mixed doubles quarter-finals. Robertson teamed up with Wallwork after Gail Emms, with whom he won Olympic silver, retired after the 2008 Games. England's European champions Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg also reached the last eight in Denmark. Robertson and 21-year-old Wallwork's partnership got off to a winning start with a win over China's Xu Chen and Pan Pan in the first round of the Super Series event. But they came unstuck against the experienced national champions Blair and Wallwork and fell to defeat in 29 minutes. Robertson will need time to develop his partnership with Wallwork but the 31-year-old hopes to emulate the success he had with Emms. The duo claimed world, European and Commonwealth titles, as well as Olympic silver in 2004, during their time together.
