Wallwork and Robertson will spearhead England's challenge in Liverpool |
Jenny Wallwork admits she faces a tough task replacing Gail Emms as Nathan Robertson's doubles partner. Wallwork, from Bolton, will team up with Robertson at next February's European Badminton Championships in Liverpool after Emms' retirement. "They are some big shoes to fill but with a lot of hard work together hopefully we can fill them," she told BBC Radio Merseyside. "It's a brilliant opportunity and I'm hoping to learn a lot." Robertson and Emms played together for seven years. They reached the final of the Athens Olympics in 2004 and won the World Championships in Madrid in 2006. Wallwork, whose family are from Liverpool, recently won the Dutch Open with former partner Robert Blair. Emms is staying on with Badminton England to work as a mentor. She has already observed Wallwork and Robertson working together and is backing Wallwork to go onto great things. "I'm really pleased that he has picked Jenny because she's a great girl and is so talented," said Emms. "She has a great future ahead of her and I can't think of a better player for him."
