Cathcart feels game has improved

Cathcart has started 17 games for Argyle since joining in August

Plymouth Argyle's on-loan Manchester United centre-back Craig Cathcart says his time at Home Park has helped him improve as a player.

Having joined initially till the new year, the 19-year-old has had his loan extended until the end of the season.

He has forged a strong partnership with Marcel Seip, displacing Hungary international Kriztian Timar.

"A lot of my defensive work has improved," he told BBC Radio Devon. "I'm stronger, and better in the air."

The Northern Ireland under-21 international added: "I've been playing plenty of games and hopefully I can get plenty more games towards the end of the season."

And he says his aim now is to keep improving and get himself into Sir Alex Ferguson's thoughts when he goes back to Old Trafford in the summer.

"I was sent here to get experience and toughen me up and hopefully when I go back to United I'll get into the squad or thereabouts," he said.
