Plymouth Argyle are in talks with Manchester United over an extension to the loan of Northern Ireland under-21 international Craig Cathcart.
The 19-year-old centre-back joined the Pilgrims at the start of August and is on loan until the end of 2008.
"We're in discussions with Manchester United about keeping Cathcart at the club," Sturrock told BBC Devon.
"As it stands, he'll go back at the end of December and won't be available for the FA Cup tie at Arsenal."
