Torquay United manager Paul Buckle felt his side did not deserve to come away with any points from Eastbourne Borough in Tuesday's 4-2 defeat.
The loss saw the Gulls' 14-game unbeaten league run come to an end.
"We weren't good enough tonight, as simple as that," Buckle told BBC Radio Devon after the defeat.
"We won't kid anyone. We've been good enough in the last 15 games, but tonight we weren't at it and we got what we deserved."
He added: "As a whole team we didn't defend properly."

And Buckle said his side did not adapt to the weather conditions as well as their opponents.
"It wasn't a night for passing and pretty football, it was night to get it forward and have a fight and I felt they did that better than us.
"It's important we understand the mistakes we made tonight because we've dropped three valuable points," he said.
