The "Romanian Chelsea"
Roman Abramovich and the Romanian flag with Euros

Like Chelsea, Cluj's recent transformation has been largely down to large financial investment from a generous benefactor, which has seen the club earn comparisons with their west London opponents.

Arpad Paszkany's pockets are not as deep as Roman Abramovich's, but the local businessman has used his Leus (Romania's currency) to great effect.

The club broke the traditional Bucharest club strangehold on the Romanian championship by winning their first ever Liga 1 title last season.

The Dr Constantin Radulescu stadium now seats 25,000 and meets strict Uefa criteria about entry into the Champions League, hosting its first international match in 85 years in September when Romania were beaten 3-0 by Lithuania.

But it's on the pitch where Paszkany's investment has made the biggest difference.
