Bas Zuiderent hit a brilliant 116 not out against the Emirates |
Holland grabbed the fifth and final World Cup qualifying spot following a 145-run victory over the United Arab Emirates in Dublin on Monday. A brilliant 116 not out by opener Bas Zuiderent guided the Dutch to a match-winning 287 for four.
Middle-order duo Tim de Leede and Ryan ten Doeschate also contributed with swift knocks of 65 apiece.
The Dutch, who had been put into bat, bowled out the UAE for 142 with Billy Stelling taking 3-33.
The pressure was on the Dutch to reach their third World Cup after they lost out in the group stages to Scotland and Canada - both teams automatically qualifying for the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies.
Holland will now be in the same group in the Caribbean as Australia and South Africa.
Ireland and Scotland will battle it out for the ICC Trophy on Wednesday in Dublin - the winners getting a spot in the Australia group, the losers joining Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe.
Canada's win over Bermuda put them in England's group.
World Cup qualifiers: Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Bermuda, Holland.
Automatic World Cup places: Australia (holders), Bangladesh, England, India, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies (hosts), Zimbabwe.
