Fans' corner
England fan Theo Minter

BBC Sport has teamed up with fans on the TMS message boards to give you a fan's eye view of international cricket.

Each week, we will be choosing one supporter to sound off about his or her team.

This week Theo Minter, 31, from East Sussex, gives his views on England.

Who have been your best players in the last year?
Nasser Hussain and Mark Butcher

Rikki Clarke has caught the eye with some bright performances at international level
Rikki Clarke is seen as having a bright future for England

And your worst?
Ashley Giles

Sum up the last year in one word:
Transitional

Now sum it up in 50:
Out with the old: Stewart, Gough, probably Caddick, an end to Hussain's reign as captain. In with the new: Vaughan at the helm, Read behind the stumps with Jones and Harmison spearheading a new look attack. The changeover has so far been smoother and more successful than I'd expected.

Which English ground is your favourite to watch international cricket at and why?
The Oval. Great atmosphere, easy to get to, we always do well there, and far less stuffy than Lord's.

Are there any promising youngsters in your squad?
Rikki Clarke

Player your team couldn't cope without?
Mark Butcher

Which opposition players do your fans most respect?
Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, Shane Bond, Jacques Kallis and Chris Cairns

This win gave England a 2-2 series draw
England celebrate their 2003 win over South Africa at The Oval

If you could choose one of these to play for England, which would it be?
Shane Warne

Best moment as an England fan:
Winning at The Oval against South Africa to draw the recent series.

Biggest let down:
Not getting at least a draw out of the 1989 series in the West Indies after winning the first Test.

Funniest thing seen at a match:
Phil Tufnell batting

Favourite all-time player:
Ian Botham

Worst player even seen:
Jonathan Agnew

Should England tour Zimbabwe?
No way, not while Mugabe is in power. Touring Zimbabwe would be an acceptance of Mugabe's actions.

Ian Botham is arguably England's greatest ever cricketer
How important do you think the England Cricket Academy at Loughborough will become?
It will end being very important but we shouldn't really need Loughborough. We should have 18 academies, they're called the first class counties!

Just how good are Steve Harmison and Simon Jones? Will they help to transform England's fortunes in the next few years?
It's just too early to tell, I don't think you can ever judge how good a player is until they've played a series against Australia, they are truly the benchmark of quality.

How do you see the remainder of 2004 going for England?
I couldn't care less about the ODI series against India but I'm sure we'll be thrashed. We'll probably make an early exit from the ICC Trophy as well.

As for the proper cricket, we should beat West Indies easily, but New Zealand have a very strong team at the moment and I'd be happy to draw that one.

I don't think we'll end up touring Zimbabwe, but South Africa away next year could be a really great series, a lot closer than most people imagine.
