BBC Sport has teamed up with fans on the TMS message boards to give you a fan's eye view of international cricket.
Each week, we will be choosing one supporter to sound off about his or her team.
This week Salim Taher, 31, who lives in the Austrian capital Vienna, gives his views on Bangladesh.
Who have been your best players in the last year?
Habibul Bashar, Rajin Saleh and Alok Kapali
And your worst?
Khaled Mahmud, the captain
Sum up the last year in one word:
Disappointing
Habibul Bashar is one of Bangladesh's best players |
Now sum it up in 50:
It was a very disappointing year for us, as we lost to Canada and Kenya during the 2003 World Cup.
Later on, we lost a nail-biting close match against Pakistan in the Multan Test, which was frustrating.
It was a mixed year for us, but things could have been better had we had a better coach than Mohsin Kamal.
Which Bangladesh ground is your favourite to watch international cricket at and why?
Bangabandhu National Stadium, with a capacity of 36,000 cricket loving spectators, where the first ever Test match was seen on our soil before the ' 71 liberation war.
Are there any promising youngsters in your squad?
Yes, quite a lot. Mashrafee Bin Murtoza, Mohammad Ashraful, Alok Kapali and Manjurul Islam Rana are amongst them.
Player your team couldn't cope without?
Habibul Bashar
Which opposition players do your fans most respect?
Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Jacques Kallis, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shoaib Akhtar
If you could choose one of these to play for Bangladesh which would it be?
Shoaib Akhtar
Best moment as a Bangladesh fan:
1997 ICC Trophy win that saw us qualify for the 1999 World Cup
Bangladesh almost recorded their first ever Test win in Multan |
Biggest let down:
A very close Test defeat against Pakistan in Multan.
A win would have been historic and could have rapidly changed the colour of Bangladesh cricket.
Funniest thing seen at a match:
Khaled Mahmud was shown a shoe by the crowd at Dhaka
Favourite all-time player:
Sachin Tendulkar
Worst player even seen:
Khaled Mahmud
On reflection, do you think Bangladesh got Test status too soon?
No, I don't think so.
What impact has Dav Whatmore had on the team?
He changed the overall attitude of the Bangladesh team and brought back the confidence of individual ability to his boys.
Dav Whatmore has given the Bangladesh team back their confidence |
If you were coach, what would you do to try and get a first Test win against Zimbabwe?
I would tell the players to give 110 percent and never lose confidence in one's own ability.
What state will the Bangladesh cricket team be in five years from now?
Hopefully we'll be somewhere like Sri Lanka after their first five years of Test status.
