Scotland have struck some good form after losing on day one |
Scotland beat the United Arab Emirates by 48 runs in their third match of the ICC Six Nations Challenge in Dubai. Half-centuries from Dougie Brown and Gavin Hamilton gave the Scots a score of 258-6 and Ryan Watson's 4-47 ensured the UAE were kept at bay.
The victory, coupled with Holland's loss to Namibia, leaves the contest wide open to decide who will play in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Scotland, UAE and Holland now all have four points from three matches.
On Wednesday, the UAE elected to field first against Scotland and claimed two early wickets before Brown and Hamilton, who have both represented England, put on 89 for the third wicket.
Captain Craig Wright hit 35 not out over the closing overs to steer his team to an imposing score.
Arshad Ali was the UAE's highest scorer with 44 at the top of the innings. But once he was run out, Watson ran through the middle over to repel any chance of a surprise win by the hosts.
Namibia's win over Holland was thanks in no small part to Deon Kotze, who hit 81 not out in a score of 247-5.
The Dutch folded for just 176 as Kotze (3-31) plucked out the middle order.
In the other match, Canada, only a year after beating Bangladesh in the World Cup, were on the receiving end, thrashed by their neighbours the USA.
American seam bowler Howard Johnson claimed 3-18 as Canada were hustled out for 126 and Mark Johnson smashed 67 as the USA took just 24 overs to reach their target.
The Scots take on Canada on Thursday and complete their fixtures against USA on Saturday, when at least one of Holland and UAE will drop points, because they play each other.
