Zaheer restores confidence
Zaheer Khan
My focus was on hitting the seam - I wasn't trying to bowl too fast
Zaheer Khan
Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan said the Brisbane Test was on an even keel after a second day which belonged emphatically to the tourists.

Zaheer took 5-95 as Australia went from an overnight 262-2 to 323-9 on a rain-interrupted day at the Gabba.

"Considering the situation we were in yesterday, we did a fantastic job today to restrict them," said Zaheer.

"The game is definitely evenly poised at this stage. I'm confident our batters will do a good job."

Zaheer removed Steve Waugh for a duck in bizarre circumstances when the Australian captain trod on his stumps.

He also had Simon Katich and Adam Gilchrist caught behind the wicket.

"The conditions were good but we bowled in the right areas today, that was the big difference," said Zaheer.

"No matter who the batsman is, if you're bowling in the right areas the batsmen will struggle.

"You've got to hit the right length. My focus was on hitting the seam. I wasn't trying to bowl too fast, I was just concentrating on my job."

Australia coach John Buchanan said his biggest disappointment was the run-outs of Damien Martyn and Jason Gillespie.

"It's part and parcel of the game even though you don't want it to happen." he said.

"It was unfortunate communication in the middle."
