UPUL CHANDANA
Right arm leg-break bowler; right-hand batsman

FACTFILE
U Chandana
DOB: 7.5.72
Test debut: v Pakistan, Dhaka, 1999
ODI debut: v Australia, Sharjah, 1994

Chandana has been on the fringes of the one-day side for many years, but has always struggled to hold down a spot.

Sri Lanka view him as a hard-hitting lower order batsman who can be asked to bowl a full spell of 10 overs.

In reality, he has never been quite as economical with his bowling, nor quite as effective with his batting as they would have liked.

When he has kept his place it has often been because of his fielding - he is arguably the best in the side.

He hit a stunning 89 off 71 balls as Sri Lanka chased down 313 to claim the one-day series in West Indies in June.
