Tormod Forstad needs to find an extra point from somewhere with his final run to win gold...

    Oh goodness, I can't... incredible.

    Has he done it?

This is an utter joke! Are we watching real skiing?

Mac Forehand was risking death if he messed that up.

X Games winner Mac Forehand is next up.

And it's brilliant! The American's mouth is open wide after landing a monster.

What entertainment this is! We promised drama...

AND HE'S INTO THE GOLD MEDAL POSITION! 98.25! INCREDIBLE!

Only Tormod Frostad left to go...

If anyone was going to try to challenge gold position, it was Matej Svancer. He has brought Austria to its feet.

He stands up like a soldier on the landing!

Austria's Matej Svancer needs to improve his first attempt by more than five points to challenge leader Tormod Frostad - and he might just have done it, you know!

Roars in the BBC commentary box as he lands a 2160.

It's 96.00 - so close, but he's into silver medal position!

Troy Podmilsak of the United States is the only man who can disturb the current top three - oh it's brilliant!

    But is it enough?

No - it's 94.00... which keeps him in fourth spot.

So the medallists are locked in, but will the order change?

World champion Luca Harrington has his head down and a disappointed look on his face. A tiny error on the landing leaves him with a modest third-run score and well short of the podium places.

This man had the power to upset the podium. Birk Ruud is human after all.

    Men's freeski big air final

Here's defending champion and slopestyle gold medallist Birk Ruud - he needs a big one here to spring to the top of the leaderboard - and he's down!

Didn't quite rotate enough for the 1980 and he's out of medal contention as well.

Dylan Deschamps did not look in the zone. His face was not filling you with confidence.

As soon as he opened his body up, it slowed his rotation down completely.

Canadian Deschamps won't be winning a medal and neither will American Konnor Ralph, despite a brilliant 2160 scoring 91.50 with his final attempt.

Oh, Brad Jacobs... that's a big mistake in a big moment. He gives Bruce Mouat another peek at two and the Team GB skip takes it to edge his side in front for the first time tonight. Four ends to go...

Watching the men's big air - I want to know what's the purpose of the poles? They don't use them in the runs

    Luca, Basingstoke

Why do they have to have poles they never use in the big air?

    Pete, Derby

Hello Pete and Luca - we've done some quick research...

In the past it wasn't a requirement so you had a mix of pole users and non-users. But the rules were changed at the start of the 2023-24 season.

Apparently, using poles increases the difficulty of tricks, particularly grabs, so it levels the playing field.

Ulrik Samnoey took off like a samba dancer then.

He had no business landing that! It is like jumping off a multi-storey car park into the street.

No joy on run three for the Norwegian, who is out of medal contention.

Austria's Matej Svancer joins the party with a 95.25 to follow his 91.75.

He's into second place for a brief moment but he needs to find more than five points to overhaul leader Tormod Frostad.

Mac Forehand registers a second consecutive score of 95.00 to split Frostad and Svancer (pictured) on 190.00 overall.

Tormod Frostad has set such a standard with his first two runs that his fellow competitors are having to go for broke to stay in the hunt for gold.

Birk Ruud, the defending champion, falls on his second attempt.

    Pressure on everyone right now.

A horrendous mistake from Canada leaves them with no stones in the house and GB lying three. Brad Jacobs rescues his rink but that's another end in which they've been held to one.

The Canadians just ahead at the break, but Bruce Mouat will resume with the hammer.
