Burnley claim first Premier League point since 26 October
Antoine Semenyo opens the scoring for Bournemouth
Armando Broja equalises in 90th minute for the Clarets
Armando Broja headed in a dramatic late equaliser as struggling Burnley ended their seven-game losing streak by claiming a precious Premier League point at Bournemouth.
Until then Antoine Semenyo's curling effort midway through the second half had looked likely to settle an underwhelming affair in the hosts' favour.
The result leaves Bournemouth, who are on a winless run of their own that now stretches to eight matches 14th in the table.
However, despite the point not being enough to lift Burnley up the table from 19th, it provided Clarets' boss Scott Parker with some welcome respite, with his team avoiding equalling the club's longest ever sequence of league defeats in their history.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola was left to rue their failure to convert several gilt-edged opportunities to put the game beyond Burnley, long before Albania international Broja made a late intervention.
Wales midfielder David Brooks was wasteful when presented with several excellent chances to score and when Semenyo capitalised on a slip from Josh Laurent to score it was the first effort on target either side had managed.
It was also the Ghana forward's eighth goal of an increasingly productive campaign and will only further serve to enhance his reputation, with several top-flight giants linked with a January move for the 25-year-old.
Bournemouth analysis: Cherries overly reliant on Semenyo
Burnley late equaliser a 'big punishment' for Bournemouth - Iraola
While both sides came into this contest without a league victory since 26 October, there were few similarities once play got under way.
The Cherries dominated possession against a Burnley side that appeared devoid of ambition and who largely struggled to retain the ball long enough to pose any attacking threat of their own.
In contrast to Bournemouth's thrilling 4-4 draw at Old Trafford, there were also long periods of this encounter where there was little by way of entertainment.
Iraola's main frustration will be that his side failed to add to their goal tally against opponents who had shipped 23 goals in eight previous matches on their travels.
Evanilson was unable to influence proceeedings greatly before he was withdrawn just after the hour mark.
And while Semenyo did provide a moment of brilliance and genuine threat there appeared to be an over reliance on the former Bristol City player to spark the home side.
Burnley analysis: Vital point provides renewed hope for Clarets
Late Broja equaliser eases 'massive pressure' on struggling Burnley - Parker
Heading to the south coast, Parker had admitted that he was feeling "the pressure" of trying to keep Burnley in the English top flight.
Yet with his side clearly shorn of confidence from a dismal run of results, he will hope that Broja's leveller, in a game where they rode their luck, can lay the platform for a turnaround in form.
Up until the closing stages Burnley had fought a largely rearguard action seemingly caught between trying to counter and fear of getting exposed themselves in defence.
On the only occasion they did push men forward in the opening 45 minutes Laurent was correctly flagged offside prior to his centre being turned in by former home favourite Jaidon Anthony.
While any sense of optimism felt in the Burnley ranks could have been quickly banished had Marcos Senesi not headed a glorious late chance over for the hosts, the Clarets can now at least look forward to festive fixtures at home to Everton and Newcastle with a renewed sense of purpose.
What's next for these teams?
Bournemouth travel to Brentford for their next Premier League game on Saturday, 27 December, while Burnley are also in action at the same time that day, taking on Everton at Turf Moor.
