Walsall are top of the pops by the barest of margins.

Had Swindon scored a second goal in their win over Crawley they would have overtaken the Saddlers by virtue of goals scored, after the lunchtime draw between Notts County and Walsall.

Bromley's win over Grimsby lifted them up to third, just a point off the top while MK Dons thumped Harrogate to stay in touch and Salford and Chesterfield make up the top-seven after wins.

It's as you were at the bottom with Harrogate in the bottom two alongside Newport after both conceded four goals in defeat, and following Bristol Rovers' point at Crewe last night.

Would you look at that... had Cardiff won today they'd have opened up a nice gap at the top.

But their 2-1 defeat at Lincoln, coupled with just Bradford's third loss of the season at Leyton Orient, however means the top five are now separated by just six points, with Stockport's win at Mansfield getting them back on track while Bolton's defeat at Wycombe was costly.

At the other end it's all change above rock-bottom Port Vale, who look increasingly doomed.

Doncaster slip to second bottom after being pumped by Plymouth, Blackpool are up a place after their lunchtime win and Mansfield are in the relegation zone after defeat to Stockport, with Exeter's fine win over Barnsley lifting them up above the drop-zone.

Rotherham and Burton are only a point above after defeat against Huddersfield and a draw at Stevenage respectively.

Salford have moved up a place to sixth courtesy of a never in doubt 3-1 win over Barnet. Ollver Hawkins pulled one back late for Barnet but they were never close enough and stay 13th in the table.

Colchester piled more misery on Newport with a 4-1 win Jack Payne added the fourth six minutes into stoppage time.

Fleetwood came from behind to beat Gillingham. After Bradley Dack had given the Gills the lead goals from Ryan Graydon and a winner from Zech Medley gave them a 2-1 verdict.

Fleetwood are up two places to ninth while the Gills drop two to 12th.

Harrogate are now 11 games without a win after a 4-0 battering from MK Dons. Two goals from Aaron Collins and two from Alex Gilbey did the damage.

Oldham's Michael Mellon bagged a hat-trick (his second of the season) to see off Tranmere 3-1. Mike Fondop-Talom was sent off for the hosts.

And Chesterfield edged a tight encounter 1-0 at Shrewsbury courtesy of a goal just after the hour mark from Lee Bonis. The Spireites move into seventh place (up two) and into the play-off picture.

  6. 'Memorable three points for Lincoln'published at 17:00 GMT 20 December 2025

    FT: Lincoln 2-1 Cardiff

    Michael Hortin
    Assistant Editor, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Brilliant from Lincoln City this afternoon.

They had to show character at times but then also had to show moments of quality. It was back to Lincoln's go-to, goals from set-pieces, that gives them a memorable three points.

I think they deserved it - Lincoln certainly created the best of the chances.

    Swindon 1-0 Crawley

That was like pulling teeth but Swindon have held on to take three points and move second in the League Two table.

Crawley threw everything at them, it was a real kitchen sink job, but Swindon kept them out to take the win.

Ollie Palmer's penalty proved the difference between the two sides as Swindon took advantage of the draw between Notts County and Walsall to close at the top.

A three goal win would have seen them go top but a 1-0 win sees them level with Walsall and a goal behind on goal difference.

    Leyton Orient 2-1 Bradford

Leyton Orient come from behind via Dom Ballard to take a 2-1 win against promotion-seeking Bradford.

The forward scored first with a header before putting his feet to good use to seal the winner from inside the box.

It means Bradford are back outside the top two and perhaps more disappointingly, still chasing an out of reach Cardiff City.

    Rotherham 1-3 Huddersfield

A good day for Huddersfield whose fans will make the short journey home in good spirits.

Lynden Gooch swept home the opener and then laid on assists for Bojan Radulovic and Leo Castledine as the Terriers did all the damage in the first half.

They are back in sight of the play-off places while the Millers are free-falling towards the relegation zone, despite Sam Nombe's late consolation goal, they are just a point above the drop-zone.

    Wycombe 2-1 Bolton

Big win for Wycombe who end Bolton's seven-match unbeaten run and dent their momentum in the promotion race.

Thierry Gale thumped the visitors ahead early on but two goals in as many minutes from Jack Grimmer and Junior Quitirna on the stroke of half-time turned the game on its head and despite second-half pressure, the Trotters could not find a leveller.

    No late drama this week.

Sonny Bradley's header has won it for Lincoln and the League One title race is wide open once again.

Alex Robertson's unfortunate own-goal put the Imps ahead just before the break but Perry Ng scored a fine leveller shortly after the turnaround as the visitors enjoyed a purple patch.

Lincoln rode their luck and Bradley eventually headed home a corner to seal a fifth straight home win and take the Imps up to second, three points behind their visitors, albeit having played a game more.
