Wonder if Man Utd have learnt their lesson from the Ole era ? Going from an overly structured, unpopular coach to appointing a vibes-based ex-player on a purple patch is no way to run a big club. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Diogo Dalot is the latest to have a go but his effort is wide via a deflection.

United's resulting corner doesn't come to anything.

Manchester United playing with good tempo when they come forward.

Bruno Fernandes again at the heart of everything as he uses Bryan Mbeumo to lay off at the top of the penalty box before getting it back and firing a low effort towards the bottom corner. Djordje Petrovic makes the save.

Matheus Cunha plays a little one-two with Bruno Fernandes then gets a powerful shot off but he's half falling over. The effort still draws a save from Djordje Petrovic.

Marcu Tavernier thinks he's fouled on the edge of the penalty area by Casemiro but the referee is having none of it.

Good noise so far from the travelling Manchester United supporters.

I don't know if Rayan was shooting or trying to pick up Evanilson at the back. It's one end to the other.

Bournemouth had a bit of good fortune in defence, but they are one of the best counter-attacking teams in the Premier League, maybe the best.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Man Utd

Good save from Djordje Petrovic after Amad chops onto his right foot and hits a powerful strike which is parried away and Bournemouth are fortunate that it's not to the feet of Casemiro.

The hosts get straight up the other end and Rayan drags his shot wide, or was it a cross that Evanilson just couldn't get on the end of at the back post?

Either way big chances at both ends!

    Bournemouth 0-0 Man Utd

Bournemouth win an early corner but it's dealt with by Manchester United and they try to use it as an opportunity to get on the counter but they can't quite find a rhythm to break through the middle of the park.

Bruno Fernandes is impossible to ignore. He has been for a couple of years now.

I can't think of anybody as consistent as this lad.

Since Michael Carrick's first Premier League game back with the club (January 17th), Manchester United have made the fewest changes to their starting XIs in the competition (10). Indeed, the Red Devils are unchanged from their previous league game tonight.

I think Carrick is really charismatic, but the key to our turnaround is having Premier League/English football proven coaches as well. Just like with recruitment last summer, knowing the league is such an asset when joining a pressure cooker club like United.

Kobbie Mainoo's made the England squad, what a turnaround that is. He couldn't get anywhere near Man United's squad under Ruben Amorim.

  15. New Maguire and Mainoo Man Utd deals getting closerpublished at 19:52 GMT

Bournemouth v Man Utd (20:00 GMT)

Manchester United are getting closer to agreeing new contracts with Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.

Maguire's current deal is due to expire in the summer and he has been free to talk to rival clubs since January.

However, as previously reported by BBC Sport, the 33-year-old's preference has always been to remain at United, while the club have been reluctant to lose Maguire's experience in the same summer as midfielder Casemiro will depart.

Sources say there is still work to do to finalise terms, but it appears a one-year contract, with the option for a further season, is likely to be agreed.

Meanwhile, negotiations over a much-improved, long-term deal for Mainoo are also said to be progressing well, with an expectation talks will reach a successful conclusion over a contract likely to run until 2031.

That will include a significant increase on the terms Mainoo is currently on, given he last signed a contract in February 2023, just after the 20-year-old made his first-team debut.

If Mainoo had been granted his wish, he would have joined Napoli on loan in either August or at the beginning of January.

The Stockport-born academy product was not given a single Premier League start by Ruben Amorim, who felt Mainoo did not suit his preferred system.

However, he has started every game since Michael Carrick took charge in January and with relations between player and club thawing, it is welcome news for United fans that Mainoo is willing to commit his future to the club.

Man Utd manager Michael Carrick speaking to Sky Sports:

"Quite quickly we settled in, had a decent run of results and as long as we continue in the right direction, that is a really good sign.

"The boys have been really good and they are desperate to do well. We are taking it a game at a time and see where that takes us."

Since Michael Carrick took charge of Manchester United in January, the Red Devils have won more Premier League games (seven) and more Premier League points (22) than any other side.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has created more than six chances in each of his last three Premier League games, the first player to do so since Trent Alexander-Arnold in December 2023.

No player on record (from 2003-04) has created six or more chances in four successive appearances in the competition.

Each of Casemiro’s last five Premier League goals this season has been assisted by Bruno Fernandes. Only Marcus Rashford has been set up by the same player more in a single campaign for Manchester United in the competition (six by Fernandes in 2022-23).
