Cardiff made it two draws in three league games

League One leaders Cardiff City made it two draws in three league matches as they were held to a 1-1 tie at struggling Leyton Orient.

In a game in which both teams spurned good chances the first big opportunity fell to Salech in the 10th minute when he tried to chip Killian Cahill after being played through by a good pass over the top.

A strong hand from the Orient keeper was enough to deny the Danish striker.

The hosts struck first as a rare Nathan Trott mistake gifted Dom Ballard a tap-in and Orient the lead, his 12th of the season in the league.

Trott was once again called into action when Alfie Lloyd headed from close range, but a great save by the keeper prevented the Bluebirds from going 2-0 down.

Salech levelled with what was also his 12th league goal of the season, giving 1,200 travelling Bluebirds fans something to cheer as he rounded Cahill and fired into the roof of the net, beating all the covering defenders on the line in the process.

Omari Kellyman was forced off late in the first-half with an injury and Barry-Murphy will be hoping it will not be too serious for the impressive 20-year-old.

One fan will argue the biggest moment of the day took place at half-time when a supporter won £15,000 from hitting the crossbar at Brisbane Road.

Cardiff played with slightly more intensity in the second-half and scorer Salech turned creator in the 74th minute to find Alex Robertson, who was denied by an impressive block.

Neither team could be separated in the final 20 minutes with the hosts staying resolute and putting in a convincing performance to ease their relegation fears.

Cardiff failed to claim back-to-back victories against Leyton Orient in the Football League for the first time since the 1997-98 season, but more importantly have once again opened the door for the rival challengers for the title.
