For a short time Bologna were in that promised land of the last 16. However in spite of a 3-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv they were edged out by Roma.

Freiburg fell to defeat in France, with Olivier Giroud's stoppage time spot-kick taking all three points for Lille, though that didn't alter either side's fate in terms of the standings.

A 1-0 win for Ludogorets against Nice means that they jump into the play-offs and continue their journey in the competition, with the French team eliminated prior to tonight's games.

Basel go out after falling to a 1-0 defeat to Viktoria Plzen, who finish in the play-off spots. FCSB are also eliminated after being held to a 1-1 draw by Fenerbahce.

Meanwhile, Genk just miss out on a top-eight spot in goal difference despite their 2-1 victory over Malmo.

Go Ahead Eagles against Braga ends as the only goalless game this evening.

The hosts missed a chance to win it from the spot as Adam Karabec had his effort saved.

Then the visitors were reduced to ten men after Giannis Konstantelias was shown a second yellow, and their manager also received red for his protestations.

Karabec then made amends for Lyon by scoring the third in the 88th minute, before Alejandro Rodriguez added a fourth in stoppage time to make sure they'd finish in top spot.

    FT: Porto 3-1 Rangers

It's full-time in Porto and that means Rangers' Europa League campaign has come to an end.

Even though the Gers were out of the competition before tonight's 3-1 defeat to Portuguese giants, the way in which the Scots capitulated after taking a shock, early lead will disappoint manager Danny Rohl.

But there will be no time for Rohl and his players to mourn this underwhelming European campaign as they host Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
