Birmingham City

Birmingham City boss Amy Merricks speaking to TNT Sports: "I'm sure we'll look back at it and some of the moments, certainly the set pieces, where we wanted to create a bit more chaos, but I'm just super proud today.

"We've gone toe to toe with the best side in the country and in the second half they couldn't get out at times. We didn't stop giving everything that we've got. On another day maybe we get something but I'm super proud.

"We all felt like we could get something in that second half, so there was a bit of disappointment clearly because we wanted to get through to the next round. I don't think anyone expected that to be 1-0 today, let alone for us to pin them into their own half in the second half."

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Andree Jeglertz speaking to TNT Sports: "We knew it was a good team. Our first half was very good, we controlled the game, created a lot of chances. In the second half they pressed us a little higher and we knew that the were definitely going to do something different and we lost the ball a little bit too easy in the build up.

"On the other hand they don't realy create any scoring chances against us and we had a couple more. I'm very happy to get the away win and to qualify for the semi-final."

On winning without playing their best: "It shows a lot. It also shows the players we have and the quality of them. We had some players that hadn't started for a while and did great. It shows something about the group and the qualities we have, and also shows the winning mentality we have. Sometimes we play an opponent that makes it difficult for us but we refuse to lose."

Manchester City

Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp speaking to TNT Sports: "Birmingham posed us a lot of threats. They were very aggressive and after we scored our goal they had the momentum for a little bit. We struggled in moments but the most important thing is that we won and are through to the next round. We played some good stuff. It wasn't our best performance but we got the job done.

"One thing this season that we haven't done particularly well is start games well. We did that last week and we wanted to start this game with the same mentality and the same attitude. We did well for the first 10-15 minutes but then we let them get a bit of momentum , but you can always rely on Bunny [Shaw] to score us some goals."

Manchester City were pushed to their limits. Full credit to Birmingham, their press, tenacity, they gave everything.

At the end of the day the professionalism of Manchester City shone through, and they will be delighted to be in the semi-final.

More from Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood speaking to TNT Sports: "I love being part of this club. It is a joy right now. It's great to be captain but I don't get ahead of myself. We've been close in the past and it hasn't made it through, so now I'm really focused on each game. Now we go into an international break, which is exciting, but we look after ourselves and go again after that."

On being drawn away to Chelsea in the semi-finals: "Of course. Listen if you want to get to a final you've got to play the best teams and Chelsea are definitely one of them."

Manchester City

Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood speaking to TNT Sports: "We got the job done in the end, that was the most important thing. Credit to them [Birmingham] they made it difficult for us today and posed a couple of threats. I wouldn't say that we were at our best but that is the challenge of the FA Cup, and we're through to the semi-final.

"There is something different [this season], a mentality shift. There's a lot of confidence in the group. The togetherness within the group is unbelievable, we're a really close-knit club. We back each other, those that are on the pitch, and those that come on, so there is a slight difference there.

"There's a change in how we play a bit as well. The positivity to play forward when we can, the freedom of expression, and all of that combined means that we're in a really good place."

The FA Cup semi-final line up is complete.

Chelsea will host Manchester City.

For Birmingham they can take a lot of pride moving forward in the league for the next couple of games, and then hopefully they can get into the WSL. They have really put themselves up against the Champions-elect Manchester City this afternoon.
