Will Smith and Will Harris ensured Halifax remain in the hunt for a National League play-off place after a win at Tamworth.
The visitors needed just three minutes to get their noses in front when Josh Hmami's corner was headed down and Smith fired home amid something of a scramble.
Town doubled their advantage with just 19 minutes gone when AJ Warburton got in down the right and crossed for Harris, who beat keeper Jas Singh at the second attempt.
The hosts came close to grabbing a lifeline when Ronan Maher only just cleared the crossbar from the edge of the box with 24 minutes remaining, and Halifax keeper Sam Johnson had to save from Ben Milnes after good work by Beck-Ray Enoru, but there was no way back.
