  1. What's to come?published at 12:00 GMT

While the title chatter may be over and done with, we aren't going anywhere just yet.

From one end of the Premier League table, we're heading to the other.

There were some significant results at the top, but maybe those at the bottom had even bigger implications in the grand scheme of things...

A positive result for West Ham and a big point for Nottingham Forest have piled huge pressure on Tottenham Hotspur, who host Crystal Palace this evening.

All of that to come and more as we make our way into Thursday afternoon.

  2. Recap: Hurzeler bemoans Arsenal tactics as City slip seven points behindpublished at 11:56 GMT

That's your lot from the title chatter, for this week at least...

Arsenal move seven points in front of Manchester City at the summit following the midweek results and it didn't come without its drama.

Here are the top lines from the day so far:

  3. 'We are used to this, all the 50-50s have gone against us'published at 11:50 GMT

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva, speaking to TNT Sports about the penalty incident that didn't go their way: "We are used to this [happening] this season. All the 50-50s have gone against us.

"The Erling [Haaland] incident - for me it is a penalty. What can Erling do? This season we are used to it. We know how it works.

"Our job is to be better. These things we cannot control. What we can control is our own performances. That is what we must focus on."

  4. 'I don't think because there's contact it should be a penalty'published at 11:45 GMT

    Man City 2-2 Nottm Forest

    Danny Murphy
Former Liverpool midfielder on BBC Match of the Day

On the Erling Haaland penalty appeal:

There is contact. Erling Haaland's leg hits Matz Sels' face here. I don't think just because there's contact it should be a penalty but some refs would've given it. I don't think it's a stonewall one, but I think if it was given, it wouldn't have been overturned.

As well, Man City are playing a team fighting relegation with all the quality they've got, they don't want to be relying on refereeing decisions. But I understand the disgruntlement around it.

The Haaland incident was not a penalty for me. He kicks the ball past Sels, then changes direction towards him, knowing he be taken out.

For me the Haaland penalty shout is almost identical to Ramsey's for Newcastle. A keeper runs out at you and throws his body to the floor, forcing you to touch the ball out of play. If the player doesn't jump over the challenge, they are fouled. Both are penalties.

    Rob, Stockton-on-Tees

Even if it was the slightest touch it should be a penalty. This cost City the game, and potentially the title.

    Youssef, Manchester

It's objectively a penalty, if it happened to your team you'd want it too. I find it even more egregious that people claimed Haaland was simulating. Haaland? simulating? he's simply not that player. He took half the season to finally get caught offside, he got the ball, Sels got him.

  8. 'I would expect a penalty' - former referee Gallagherpublished at 11:21 GMT

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher, speaking on Sky Sports about whether Manchester City should've been awarded a penalty for Matz Sels' challenge on Erling Haaland: "As a forward, if I push the ball past the goalkeeper like that and the goalkeeper hits the man and doesn't get the ball, I would expect a penalty. The forward has pushed the ball away, the goalkeeper hasn't got it, he's gone to ground, he's got to get the ball, and he doesn't."

On why VAR didn't intervene: "I think their view is probably that Haaland has dragged his foot into him, but I don't see it like that, and that's my opinion."

Former Premier League forward Jay Bothroyd agreed with Gallagher, adding: "That's 100% a penalty. I'm not understanding why they haven't given that.

"Like Dermot said there, he's got the ball around the goalkeeper. I think the goalkeeper even knows. I think Haaland is even thinking 'I'm definitely getting a penalty here. He's taken me out'.

    "I don't understand what they've seen."

  9. 'Sels takes Haaland out'published at 11:15 GMT

Former Man City defender on BBC Match of the Day

On the Erling Haaland penalty appeal:

It was a penalty. Don't be so ridiculous. Brilliant pass from Rayan Cherki, Haaland arcs his run and Matz Sels takes him out. He takes him out. It's as simple as that.

  10. 'It is our responsibility to do better'published at 11:10 GMT

    Man City 2-2 Nottm Forest

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn into conversation surrounding the penalty incident: "I spoke weeks ago about that subject.

"I always believe that we have to do it much better so the officials don't intervene. It's our responsibility to do it better, we don't have to rely on them.

"Nothing more to say, I said it in the past."

You can tell that the current narrative about Arsenal is out of pure desperation. Last month it was “bottlers”. Three wins later it’s “ugly”, “anti-football” and “everyone will forget”. Also - the consensus is to hate VAR but now everyone wants 10 pens per game for ‘physicality’? Okay...

  12. Should Man City have been awarded a penalty?published at 11:00 GMT

    Man City 2-2 Nottm Forest

    Manchester City

Erling Haaland had his chances in the game after returning to the starting line-up from an injury that kept him out of Manchester City's win at Leeds.

He managed to get in behind the Nottingham Forest defence in the first half, taking the ball around goalkeeper Matz Sels but firing into the side netting.

The Norway striker was presented with a similar chance in the second half while City were leading 2-1, but this time appeared to be caught by Sels.

Haaland put forward a strong appeal for a penalty but referee Darren England did not award a spot-kick and video assistant referee Tony Harrington decided not to overturn the decision.

  13. 'They are not the Man City of old'published at 10:52 GMT

    Paul Robinson
Former England goalkeeper on the Football Daily podcast

I don't think many people would have seen that one coming tonight.

Forest have only won four away games all season.

A lot has been said about Manchester City, we all expect them to go on that run and they have the home game against Arsenal which is being held up as the pivotal game.

Actually they are not the City of old. We have seen that, we know there are chinks in their armour. They were on a great run, have an especially impressive home record, and you would have genuinely expected them to pick up the points.

Three or four weeks ago I was in the City camp for the title race, thinking Pep thrives at this moment of the season, he enjoys it, and his teams seem to kick on.

Both of them are competing in four competitions so there will still be twists and turns, but from an Arsenal point of view there are always questions as they haven't got it over the line and done it for so long. That finger will always be pointed and that question asked until they do it.

But, the questions they are being asked they are answering. Manchester City are stumbling at times.

Man City 'did everything' to beat Forest - Guardiola

Pep Guardiola was pretty blunt when asked what his Manchester City side could have done better against Nottingham Forest.

"Score goals" was his reply to BBC's Match of the Day.

"We did everything, we could do a little better, but it is what it is," he added

"In general there were many good things.

"I would like to concede fewer, but it's not about analysing one specific action.

"I never point fingers at my players.

"We did everything, had the chances at the end and in first half. The momentum. But something always happens and we could not win."

18 months ago say 70% of all goals scored from corners now would have been ruled out for a foul on the goalie or a defender. For some reason its allowed in the PL now and Arsenal are taking full advantage. They'll get their title but the streets will remember.

    Danny, Southport

You can't blame Arteta for taking advantages where he can. The big question for me is why do Arsenal get away with tactics that other teams are consistently penalised for? (Persistent holding in the box, tactical "injury" breaks, delaying restarts etc.)

I thought it was an interesting game. Man City dominated it, and this will be a big blow for them.

  17. Forest take theirs in game of chancespublished at 10:26 GMT

    Man City 2-2 Nottm Forest

It was a game of many chances at Etihad Stadium - Manchester City had 21 shots on goal, but only seven on target, while Nottingham Forest found the target with four of their nine efforts on goal.

The key difference can be found in the Expected Goals (xG).

City managed two goals from an xG of 2.18, while Forest out-performed theirs, also adding two goals from an xG of 0.97.

Interestingly, Morgan Gibbs-White's back heel had an xG of 0.33, while Elliot Anderson's second equaliser for Forest had an xG of 0.04.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City have blinked first in the Premier League title run-in as they stumbled to a draw against Nottingham Forest.

City led twice through Antoine Semenyo and Rodri against relegation-threatened Forest but failed to see out the game and now lie seven behind leaders Arsenal.

Guardiola's men have a game in hand against Crystal Palace but this could be a gameweek where the momentum and belief swings in the direction of Mikel Arteta's men.

City had 70% possession and 21 shots but their inability to hold on to a lead could prove crucial come May, as they have now dropped a whopping 13 points from winning positions this season.

If teams play with 10 or 11 behind the ball we can't play expansive football. When teams attack Arsenal we counter and have space to move into. Once again last night that rarely happened, another result ground out. Saka scored because they didn't double up on him in that attack.

    Dave, Cheshire

The fact is Arsenal can expect to play 30 games this season against teams that play a low block, play for a draw and frustrate. So Arsenal have adapted to that and are getting criticised for it. Criticise the teams that play them with 10 men behind the ball.

  20. Moments of Forest brilliance dent Man City's title challengepublished at 10:10 GMT

    Man City 2-2 Nottm Forest

To be fair to Manchester City, there was very little they could do to stop Nottingham Forest's two goals.

The first came from a cheeky back heel from Morgan Gibbs-White - another example of the creativity and opportunism that has made the England midfielder a man in demand.

And Forest needed a moment of brilliance from Elliot Anderson - another in-demand England midfielder - to earn their point.

Anderson gave Gianluigi Donnarumma in the City goal no chance as he curled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box with 15 minutes to play.

City still had plenty of chances to win the game - including a strong penalty shout from Erling Haaland and a close-range effort from Savinho with the final kick of the game that was cleared off the line.

But it just wasn't their night.
