That were a treat. Robin also 540'd the volcano, grinded the top of the wallride and funfanu'd the sub rail on the spine. Sheesh!
Owain Clegg, found some belters: wallride fakie from the bowled quarter was awesome, as were his footjam nosepicks on the spine where he was jamming his foot round the front of the forks (see pic). He must have done a ton of nose picks, 'cos I've got about eight shots from different angles of them. Whatever. Owain was generally just riding superb with really fresh lines. His curb endo, where he got his front wheel in the gap between the big quarter and the sub box was another treat.
Chris Mahoney doesn't come from Chorley, but Wigan's close enough for Terrid, who shouted the name of his hometown at the lad every time he came within earshot. Idiot. Despite this, the man with the tats rode like a frickin demon. Flips all over the shop, big lines. He done the north west proud, with tons of stunt riding on every ramp. Finest Rob put it quite well when describing his video of the night (coming later this week - Rob's got an essay) "It's pretty much The Chris Mahoney Show."
Perth's David Lorimer was also riding in A Group. I thought he didn't do much, but Grant later told me that I was wrong, so what do I know? NOWT! I did see him pull a mmmmmmMASSIVE downside tailwhilp from the big quarter into the spine on his shiny, gold bike though. It was a sweet moment for the lad who gets a whole load of salt shaken his way. Lorimer also pulled some tasty inverts and turndowns (so I'm told).
In the end, everyone in A Group rode amazing, but some rode better than others (as is the way). Drew Sowerby and Owain Clegg were the Airtight favourites and they both went to the pub with their pockets filled with Mr Mailey's cash (£300 for Drew, £200 for Cleggy).
