Inside, the place was packed. B group was in effect and Bill Minns was on the mic shouting "I want to see something special! GIVE ME SOMETHING!"

Not wanting to disappoint, Rooftop dropped in a few times and tried a wallride from the bowled quarter but wiped out upon entry. He tried it a few more times but had to leave it on something like the third attempt after battering his face one his crossbar. It was nasty and he could hardly stand. Gogo held him up as (Dr) Tom ran over to check him out. After the good doctor had given him the all-clear, he was left to the mercy of the press as hunnars of flashes went off to capture this precious moment for forever. Someone got in the way of my flash, damn amateur that I am. It was ace - Rootop could hardly stand and was leaking a fair amount of claret from his face but was grinning like a kid at Christmas whilst all these flashes went off. Haha.

Here's what he had to say for himself about the whole thing:

Reet?
You mean reeeeeeeeeeettttttttt!!!!!!!!!!

How did you batter yerself?
I went as fast as I could at a wall, went up it, came doon an' stuck ma coupon intae the stem!!

What do you remember?
Thinking I had caved the side of ma face in, then Gogo catching me!! (cheers Gogo!)

Had you been drinking before hand?
No, that's why I slammed!! Plus, Si drunk enough for everyone twice over!

What did Tom say to you when he came over?
Take your trooser off!! cough please!

Did you recognise him?
Yeah, I've known Tom for years.

Did you know where you were?
Yeah, I knew where i was until loads of flashes started goin off in my eyes.

Is that another new frame you're riding?
Yeah, it's a Federal Fraction. It's really small (19 inch tt) and it feels great.

How tight were your breeks?
They were super-tight. They are my ex-bird's jeans. I ain't wearin' them again - three dudes told me I had a rad ass!!

Do you wish you could grow hair like the wig you were wearin'?
What wig? Well, one day I might, but I wouldn't want to look like Slash - he's got man tits now!!

What was the move of the comp?
Robin doin' a downside whip from the top deck of the volcano into the spine ramp. It was definite skims!!

What else do you remember about the jam/night?
Dean trying to flair the roll-in, Dean's loose! Seeing a lot of blood everywhere, the videos were really, really good!! Insane drunken madness in Sleazys,

What was the best thing about it all?
Seeing a lot of Scottish riders I had never seen before, the riding!! Seeing Superman in a wheelchair!!!

What was the worst?
Scarring ma face!! It's a nice scar noo. Not bein' able to walk right for a week and a half!! Colin lying deed for 20 mins, that was horrible - the 540 he spun was pretty ****ing wild!!

Any last words?
Bring back tails I've got a shovel waiting!!

Cheers, Rooftop

After being given five more minutes to go nuts, B Group was finally put to bed when Mad Mick fae Bishopbriggs went for a loooooooop. He decked himself on the first attempt and nearly pulled the second one. Much hugging and man-love followed between the mad one and his pals as Dr Tom shouted at him to get up and pull it, but when Mick gestured at the state his bike was in, it was clear that it wasn't going to happen.

Up next was all the old guys/guys who get paid to ride/guys who get free stuff 'cos they're good, innit? A Group was basically awesome. A wee troop of English had made their way north after the Backyard Jam. Robin Felon, Cleggy and Chris 'I come

Also on the course were Hamilton Guy, Gooordon Reeeeiiiiley and DAVID FRAAAAME! Grant reckons Gogo tried a turndown to fakie about 90 times over the spine but isn't sure if he pulled it.

Move of the comp was arguably when Tom and Grant offered up a prize of an empty can of Bud if anyone could tyre tap it on the top of the big quarter. The Felon stepped up (or rode up) and promptly crushed that bad boy in one go. The can flew out of the way once he landed on it (hence the beer shrapnel label in the pic), but rest assured, he pulled it. Haha.
