The Little Prisoner by Jane Elliott

Kirsty-Lee, Wick High School, age 16

'The Little Prisoner' is about a young girl (Jane Elliott) who is abused sexually and mentally. It is her autobiography and she tells you all the things she can remember of the past. The book is very fascinating; she goes into a lot of detail. It starts and ends the same but the start makes you read on. Jane Elliott eventually fell in love and went on to have two children, this made me feel happy because I was glad she got on with her life. At the end Jane gets what she wants and her stepfather gets put in jail. This book is an eye opener to what goes on in other people's lives. She wrote this book because she found it hard to speak out and tell people what was happening and she was inspired by Dave Pelzer when he wrote 'A Child Called It'. My feelings at the end of the book were happy for Jane but I was still disgusted that someone so close to you can hurt you in this way.

I picked this book as when I read the blurb it sounded good and it was a true story and this is what I like to read. I like reading about other people's lives. I thought this was sad but it was a very good book.
