This book is about American Football. It has quite a few themes. They are racism, American dreams and the importance of football to the citizens and players in Odessa, Texas. The book is based on a true story about a high school football team - Permian Panthers. The racism side is about the quality of living and how people of different race are separated. This is a bit of important history. At the end after going to the playoffs for the State Championships they lose so they are upset but it leaves you wondering what happens to the coach, players etc. I had the book before I saw the film. They are closely related but I prefer the book as it has more details about everything. It is very interesting and I wouldn't normally go for this type of book, but I heard from others who have read the book that it's good, so I chose to get the book 'Friday Night Lights'.
