Ming a scaredy cat ?.. and Nyctea scandiaca

Thank you ‘Mike from Glasgow’ for asking about my state of scaredness (see comments my last blog). I don’t quite know where this land of Glasgow is Mike and whether or not you get things like big, mammal eating flying machines there but when my matie collbirdyman told me of a snowy owl on the prowl I went straight under the bed.

There are things in life one just does not tackle, especially as my tackle has been removed and the urge to fight diminished.

These evil things fly quite silently and have a wingspan of up to 5 feet. I just don’t do ‘being eaten’ thank you even though my human’s tell me lemmings are their staple diet. With there been a shortage of lemmings on Coll, I’ll stay under the bed.

But the human’s got all excited and collbirdyman has some pics of the actual Coll snowy owl. Hopefully he will post them on the blog site soon as there are a necessary record for all blog reading cats to heed.

Fortunately, the underbed area is very comfortable as one of my human’s has snapped snowy owls before in the far north, places that are forbidden to mention in the bar as every one instantly falls to sleep. When he heard a snowy owl on Coll he too went into overdrive.. I just rolled my eyes and went to sleep too.

So, whilst he and several others ventured out to try and see another (and failed measurably) I dragged his photo out of the archive and below is what all cats of the Hebrides should be looking out for. Do not approach as they can be very dangerous. Just photograph and send to the blog hotline.

Gosh Ming you are lucky seeing these Snowy owls, all I have are baby rabbits which I bring home for the humans to cook for me, but they dont really appreciate these gifts and close off my door, so I go on the windowsill and they wont open windows. Hope you get rid off the owlbird before I come on holiday. See you when I come down. Sparky

Sparky
I know exactly what you mean. Although I managed to get a crow through my cat-flap once! Gave 'them' quite a shock

You keep safe Ming would miss your stories!!

You big wuss Ming! I thought you were made of sterner stuff....remember its only a bird however big it is, mind you someone did see a sea eagle on the west coast of kerrera last week, and that might be enough to keep me by the rayburn for a while....Whats' more I'm most disappointed about your revelation about the missing tackle, its ruined all my fantasies, I might have to take your picture off my basket.
I have been having alot of fun catching mice recently, my humans put in one of those sonic mouse deterrents and the wee furry fun bundles have been clearing out from all those difficult to get to locations under the floorboards, and out into the garden where they are sitting ducks.....speaking of ducks....

Meredith from Kerrera

Hi Meredith
Isn't that a boy's name ?
I am getting a little worried if it is !
My humans had ducks once - now they have quail.. and do they look tasty

love Ming

Speaking of ducks our humans had relly,s
in one night. they were asking if we broughtin anything interesting apart from the odd bird or mouse. No they said, but the previous cats Aslan & Chabaca brought in a Stoat (it fell of the back of a hay lorry), and there was a hell of a commotion one night they said when one of the cats brought in a teenage duck then proceeded to chase it round the kitchen.I can see it know the duck be-ing chased by the cat be-ing chased by the human. What fun to watch.Oh hi ming good party the other night.
