The Gale - not as quick as PondHead

Having no streetlights on Coll, it was somewhat more difficult to assess the damage during the gale. Being only a little cat, one easily blown away, I stayed in. From my penthouse view of the village I found it hard to believe some humans ventured out during the very height of the storm to the hotel - on foot! and just to get a pint. Now if it were real ale I might understand but.... don't human's do the craziest of things.
Tues evening Innes's boat was bobbing around like a whirling dervish and just before the light finally faded I took this cat-snap

It was still there next morning, a relief for many.
Down at the pier the foreshore had parked itself in the carpark. Rocks the size of my biggest of cousins, the fabulous Siberian tiger, had been thrown about like marbles and there was a manhole cover, complete with it's concrete surroud 20m inland. Luckily the damage was minimal although the car park will need some attention as it now overhangs the sea and will soon be part of it if repairs aren't done quick.

But those wonderful CalMac employees had it all sorted quicker than one can say "Is there a ferry today, and if so one or two calls?" and it is now, boringly, back to normal.
And below is yesterday just to prove it, Feall beach at it's winter best again.

Great to see you back Ming :-)
cats are so wise....I kept mine in all that night and they diden't wake us up ONCE trying to get out or scratching to have the window open. They just put their paws over their ears and curled up on the duvet......unfortunatly things are back to their in-out-in-out-in-out-in-out natural habbits now :-(

Greetings from News hound pondhead to Mews Mog Ming. Sorry not to congratulate you sooner on the excellent pictures which show more road ripping up than we had here - high tide and no real driving wavers for us thankfully. The Tobermory street lighting does make night photography possible with the help of Photoshop to dig images out of the darkness. You will be even more impressed when you hear we changed the big bright street lights for very dim ones so as to cut down on light pollution - oooo, we are sooo sophisticated if a little dim, don't you know.

Glad to hear that you survived the storm. I stayed in all night and slept at the bottom of the communal bed. It was nice seeing you last time I was in Coll, and hope we meet up again at Easter Sparky

Hi Ming, glad you are OK after the gale. I stayed in all night at the bottom of the communal bed. Hope to catch up with you at Easter when next I will be on the island Sparks

Thank you for the pictures, you folks on the islands have certainly bourne the brunt of the storm.
I do hope things are normalising.
