The Beautiful Midge ?

It's that time of year again and today is particular bad. Midges are even getting through my fur and my chicken friends (note I exclude the cockerel as he's a nasty bit of work) are running around, almost headless, trying to escape.
So I thought cat-cam could do something positive, like show you the real beauty of The Midge, although I apologise for the poor picture quality. I couldn't stay out any longer and get a sharper one as my paws were being eaten alive.

This wee biting thing was on a cob web - roll on spider!
I read on the bloggs a lot about windmills, tourism and greenhouse gasses.
Surely the wee midge is one of the main reasons tourists fear the Highlands and Islands and not windmills? Then I read about midge eating machines that give off CO2. A nightmare for global warming, I'd say. But I am only a cat and would never wish to stir up a debate of midge eaters vs windfarms.

purrs to all, Ming

Hi Ming. Re midges..Bat boxes are purrfect midge killing machines and far cheaper to run. In passing I hear the windturbines do slow down with a build-up of dead midges building up on the blades.....a turbine seems a bit excessive for your needs Ming.

Ming,
The midges, yes + the tourists, yes. The midges by far more potent than wind farms on every hill side.
You are not"just a cat " Ming, you are a very clever cat.Don't be long in blogging again.

Thanks for the tip Pondhead, I'll try hitting them with a bat box !
I'm actually frightened by those brightly coloured wind fans on sticks kiddies get at the seaside, let alone a midge riddled power generating windmill. Terrifying though.

And Island Wanderer, thanks for the complement. I've not been blogging this week as my humans have been away and the nasty male one scrambled his password. He says I'm using too much electricity having the PC on too long - I am a slow at typing.

ta for the note Ming and sorrrry for not replying sooner. Re the midge killing machines - I hear the machines do harvest a lot of midges. I wonder what people with these machines do with their daily 8 oz harvest of midges? Have they found useful things to do with their catch? Should they be lucky enough to own a chicken, might I suggest they offer them to the bird..... then enjoy eating the midges as eggs. A pleasure of a sort but not sufficient to make up for the number of times the midges have dinned off us. I will stick with the bat boxes and their residents.
