Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky Listeners' Diary - Meet the DiaristsTwo Radio 3 listeners are keeping an online diary throughout The Tchaikovsky Experience. You can respond to their comments on the diary pages. Rosalind Porter
Rosalind read music at Royal Holloway College, University of London, combined with violin tuition at the Guildhall School of Music and conducting studies. She played in the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, taking part in several British and world premieres. After graduation she worked at the BBC Radio Orchestra, BBC Proms and Radio 3. A conducting masterclass with Bruno Weil in Vienna inspired her to pursue her career abroad in Switzerland, Germany and Vienna, resulting in a wide international experience of artist and concert management.
Rosalind is now Chorus and Events Administrator at The Sage Gateshead – and especially enjoys working for Northern Sinfonia Chorus. Rosalind’s hobbies include cooking, reading German literature, violin playing for fun, listening to music and travelling. Paul Beecham
Paul graduated in Applied Physics and has worked in IT for many years, mainly in the Retail sector.
He has had a long involvement with music from studying, playing and singing at school to singing with amateur choirs in venues around London and Europe, including Notre Dame in Paris, Chartres and Rheims Cathedrals and St Mark's in Venice.
He has sung on recordings with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and performed at the Proms. He is a keen concert-goer and this year managed a personal best of twenty five Prom concerts. He now sings with the London Gay Men's Chorus. His musical tastes range across the whole spectrum with more of a leaning towards the Romantic rather than Baroque. He also has a peculiar liking for Messaien. When not singing or listening to music he is often travelling, scuba diving or at the cinema. | Listeners' DiaryOn Radio 3![]() Tchaikovsky and StravinskyFind out more about them and their music
