John Partridge

Actor John Partridge is best known for playing the character Christian Clarke in EastEnders. Prior to taking a role in the square John had a glittering career in West End musical theatre playing numerous parts in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

John initially trained as a dancer at the Royal Ballet School. From there he studied musical theatre and performing arts before leaving college early, aged 16, to join the cast of the original UK tour of Cats. He went on to appear in the official film of the show as Rum Tum Tugger and returned to the West End production prior to its closure in 2002.

In 2008 John joined the cast of EastEnders as Jane Beale’s brother, Christian Clarke, the role saw him embark on a relationship with a Muslim character in a story-line that Human Right’s campaigner Peter Tatchell described as ‘groundbreaking'. Staying in the soap until 2012, John also took time out in 2010 to appear as a judge in Over The Rainbow with Shelia Hancock and Charlotte Church. The Andrew Lloyd Webber fronted show was a search to find Dorothy for a new production of the Wizard of Oz. He has since gone on to host the National Lottery with Jenni Falconer.

2014 saw John return to the square to reprise his role as Christian Clarke as part of the soap's 'Who killed Lucy Beale?' storyline.
