Mandy Atkinson
Played by Siobhan Finneran
Mandy Atkinson loves her job as a nurse at St Anthony’s Hospital, where she has worked for nearly twenty-five years.
For Mandy, nursing isn’t just a job, it’s a vocation. It wouldn’t make a difference if they paid her 14k or 40k a year, it’s her calling and all she’s ever wanted to do. Her patients adore her and her dream is to work her way up to a senior position in the hospital. Mandy is a caring and compassionate person and is the one that everyone turns to when they need a helping hand or a non judgmental ear. She’s always there for her friends and family and often puts the needs of others above her own, regularly dipping into her purse to support her daughter.
Mandy lives with her husband Steve in an overcrowded terrace along with their daughter Becky and her granddaughter Reah. Mandy’s husband Steve was once a charismatic and charming man, but now Mandy finds herself in an increasingly abusive relationship as Steve’s insecurities see him lashing out at her, but she has a forgiving nature.
