Rose Wilson
Played by Alison Steadman
Rose Wilson works as an auxiliary nurse at St Antony’s hospital where she’s a member of a lottery syndicate.
Rose struggles to support herself and her large family on her modest salary. She lost her husband and love of her life, Jeff, eight years ago and while the heartache is still evident, she’s not one to dwell on her misfortune. She keeps trudging on, always doing the best she can for her children even though most of them are now old enough to look after themselves.
Rose didn’t always want to be a nurse. Dancing was her passion. She and late husband Jeff would dance the night away when they were younger. But now her knees have packed in and with them went her dreams of dancing again. She’s been on the waiting list for a double knee replacement for years but for the time being, frozen peas will have to do. That’s until she wins the lottery.
