Zainab is the elder of Azra and Akram’s two children, thrown into rural life as a late teen when her mother moved the family to Ambridge in the autumn of 2024.

Despite Azra’s purposeful campaigning, Zainab refused to take the university route on leaving school, preferring to keep her options open with casual work around the village, her trusty scooter allowing her complete freedom and independence. She was soon snapped up by Grey Gables, securing a regular role on the Reception desk.

Strong minded and intelligent, Zainab is able to work people out quickly. She forged a firm friendship with Chelsea Horrobin, and dealt with Chelsea’s brother Brad’s crush on her with deft sensitivity. Her all-round competence at sport came into its own when she discovered an unexpected passion for golf, surprising old-school club member Martyn Gibson with her skills.
