Whilst versatile Akram can turn his hand to almost anything, he believes farming is in his DNA, and it remains his first love. There was a part of him that always believed he’d take over the running of his small family farm in Pakistan until life took him in a different direction, finally depositing him in Ambridge, where he currently resides happily with wife Azra and children Zainab and Khalil.
Akram’s arrival back in the family fold could perhaps be best described as steadying the ship of the somewhat chaotic Malik household. Daughter Zainab particularly had missed his calming influence, though she may have been reluctant to admit it.
Plumber, handyman and occasional provider of home baked treats, modest Akram is always game to put himself forward as a willing volunteer for any number of village projects and events, winning himself a host of friends in Ambridge with his can-do attitude. Chief among his cheerleaders are his children – son Khalil has appreciated his father’s dependable support when thoughts of his childhood leukaemia returning have threatened to overwhelm him.
